With Bali’s tourist-sprawl (Costa del) Kuta at one end of the scale and 5 star spa resorts at the other Ubud has managed to side-step both and attract visitors without losing it’s soul. Nestled inland amongst verdant rice padis this hip little town has attracted european artists since the 1930’s and this bohemian imprint remains in it’s idiosyncratic bars, galleries, shops, restaurants and guest houses. © Ed Templeton
